Back to School Day

Back to School Day is a time that many in our community have come to count on for when their kids are heading back to school.  There are some families that have 3 or more kids in their household - some even have up to six kids.  Could you imagine living on a fixed income and trying to provide the needed items for your kids to head back to school.  South Side Baptist Church and the Moore Activity Center help to meet these needs with the help of so many other churches.  We have now come to a point that kids can come in and receive a new pair of gym shoes, a few necessary school supplies, a haircut done by a professional, and this year we will even be providing some socks.

 

Kids come into the building not always sure what is going on, but always leave with a smile.  If they get the full package they will be leaving with a new haircut (some pretty drastic), a pair of gym shoes, a pair of socks and schools supplies.  They leave feeling a little more ready for school.  The parents leave with smiles as well.  Many of our parents have to choose what they can and will pay for with the money they have for the month, but with our help they are a lot closer to where their child needs to be.  If you can help us out we still need shoes and school supplies to give away. 

 

You can go shopping yourself or you can send money for us to do the shopping for you.  Just $10 can help one child receive a smile.  We have the calls coming in for the shoes - help us to be able to meet the needs of all the kids needing help.  If you have questions call Amy at 261-2300.  Our deadline for items is August 9th.  Items can be brought or sent to South Side Baptist Church - 1501 Holman Avenue - Covington, KY 41011.  Our big day is August 12th - please pray for us as we minister to the families.
